Make sure you check both wedges of the valves by pushing them down as you compress the valve, I had one valve that the wedges needed to be pushed down after a couple turns of the tool. After the install I turned the motor by hand to check that all of the followers were staying put and that one valve's wedges were not moving before I buttoned up the covers.

Follow the write up and you will be fine.

Most have already seen this Ford tech video of a cam change, but i've added it to the writeup for future DIY cam changers.

reading the procedure is a great start and this video may help answer some additional questions.

summer is coming fast, let's get those cams in!

Just to clarify and be sure.
When installing cams such as thumprs or hot rod cams. Do you need to adjust anything on the rocker arms to be sure they arent loose or to tight. Or do the cams all just drop in and no adjustments need to be made?
Ive seen adjustable lash pins or something and just wanna make sure i know

hi there Lem-06, nothing needs to be done with the cam followers
or lash adjusters.....

thumpers may require cam phaser limiters or lockouts depending
on which stage you go with, so check on that before deciding
which cam to go with.

Default Thanks

Thanks everyone. The information you provided was extremely helpful and useful. My son and I installed the new cams and timing chains yesterday. Everything went very smoothly. I even manually rotated the crank several rotations after install to make sure everything operated correctly.
