Whipple w/FRPP cams - Updated after test driving
Update after second drive
the car is more cold blooded then before the
cams, it really doesn't like to be driven until it's
near operating temperature.
at this point, i'm looking to purchase a stock
whipple HO tune that has user adjustability,
so i can raise the idle rpms

ok, here are my observations after taking her out
for the maiden voyage. keep in mind i have the
stock whipple HO tune and 3.55 gears.
1) small loss of torque at low rpms, this is most noticable when
you are starting out in 1st gear and letting out the clutch. i
think those who already have 4.1 gears, will be happy they
have them.
basically it is just going to take a little time for me to get
used to the way you start out, you just need to hold the
rpms a little longer than before and there may be a little
more intentional clutch slipping involved to.
2) after you are rolling, the car drives exactly like before, nice
and smooth.
3) the car never died, coming to a stop i would put in the clutch
and the rpms would just drop down to maybe 550-600, then go to
750 .
4) i did get into boost, i just wanted to see if it could....i got
into it just a little, enough to see 5psi then i eased off. i like
to build up slowly, before i go WOT for any length of time.

the car started right up and idled amazingly
well, i didn't know what to expect, but
had hoped for the best.
the car has a 60's style rumble and it does
sound a little louder then stock, for reasons
unclear to me at this time.
i can't wait to try it out on the road tomorrow,
to see if the rpms can hold when decelerating.
the rpms drop down to around 500 or so, after
punching the gas, but then it comes back up to
around 750 and idles smooth.
i can see where a custom tune would improve the
way it idles, after a quick rpm rise and fall.
i give Ford Racing two thumbs up, on this one.
anyhow, there's definately a reason for celebration!
