Running 97 octane and still getting detonation

Yeah I think you are better off power wise using the 87 tune rather than adjusting fuel/timing. If you had a wideband 02 sensor and datalogged some, then you could adjust fuel by yourself, but with no wideband, its very hard to tune it correctly yourself. Spark advance is a very non linear curve and is very hard to program without a dyno. If you are only getting slight ping with your 91 tune, call brenspeed and ask them if they can tweak it a little.

I think I will be running into the same problem. I am in Sicily and will be having my 2008 Shelby GT delivered here in march. Would tuning be the only way to fix this problem or what can i add to my fuel to boost the octane? Recommendations?

No you should avoid the additives as from everything I have read they dont work. I would just tune for 89 or 91 octane and you should be fine.
If you plan to go nuts with modding I would buy a wideband O2 so you can datalog the parameters if you are working with a US shop like brenspeed.
I mean they sell GTR's and Porsche 911 Turbo's there and they run that gas so it has to be pretty good.

run the 87 tune. you'll get the best performace for your car period. as mygt500 stated ocatne boost is the devil.. it eats your plugs and cats. ron rating and north american octane ratings are different no ?S to that but run the 87 tune and be happy as thats the best you can get in the uk.. run a premium fuel there and aviod any form of pinging you can

Personally I love it!.... I have an S/C so I have a second hood that is functional with ram air and heat extractors its the GTS3 by Trufiber..... needs paint though. Cervinis products are great and require little prep (the fiberglass ones at least).

do you know how to datalog with your SCT?
the idea is to see where is it knocking and by how much, depending the tuner you should see up to 4 degrees of knock retard before you can actually hear it.
