OK thanks for the advice - I'm thinking of going with the 87 performance, the 89 performance and the 93 race, that way depending on how gas prices change over the coming months I can switch it as needed.....

Good Pick... just load the 93 and you'll never look back until you go F.I., but thats another story and gas price for 93 octane here dropped to 2.90, cant complain one bit

Yeah I'm feeling a lot better about running a premium octane tune now that gas prices are a little less insane.

I think I'll email Doug and get him to change my tune to a 93 instead of 91. That and maybe check out a Torque tune.

I don't think anyone mentioned it, but once you tune for 93, you MUST use 93 octane. If you run a lower octane while tuned for 93, you can damage your car.

You can, however, use 93 octane with the stock tune without any adverse effects, but it won't do you any good either.

A word of advice: Get an 87 custom tune just in case you ever get stuck not being able to get anything higher. It's happened to me about 200 miles from home. I was running my 89 tune and I was near empty and both gas stations at the interstate off ramp had only 87. Fortunately, I had the handheld with me.

OK great - I was thinking 87, 89 and 93 tunes for the X3, then I'll just keep it in the car with me, to be perfectly honest until the price of gas drops a little more I think I'll be running the 87 anyway, this is my daily driver....
