Default Dodge Charger RT-8 Vs. 2005 GT

A guy at work just bought one and he saids it has 350 horses. Who out there knows if we can keep up with it. After reading the Road & Track article on the GT, I would say yes. Also we eliminated the GTO with the 350 horsepower version. Anyway has anyone heard about Pontiac being dropped from G.M. Its a shame. Dog-gone imports I hate em.

I don't no about the Charger but I traded in a 2005 Dodge Magnum RT with a 340 horse Hemi in it for my 05 GT 5 speed and I do think the Mustang would wipe its a _ _. I was just at Lebanon Valley Dragway a couple of weeks ago and a Magnum just like the one I had even to the color ran a 15:18 in the quarter.

Road and Track have 1/4 times in their July's month issue in the back. They do have the GT coming in at 13.9 which to me seems a little slow from other magazine publishers. I think the lowest I saw was 13.4. They have the Magnum RT at 14.6 folowed by the SRT4 at 14.5 Iwould say the Charger is right around the Magnum's time maybe .20 quicker.

Track conditions play a big role in ETs. Last night the best I could do was 13.92. But, there was a strong headwind. Several of the guys in the pits near me who had run at that track before, said their cars were off by 2 or 3 tenths last night. So, maybe with different conditions, I might have been around 13.6...

yeah.. its either Pontiac or Buick.

But with the Solstice being released, Pontiac's sorry *** may very well be saved.

Buick on the other hand.... thats a goner... I say AXE it. Its supposed to be a luxury line, but I dont see jack all from it. The Allure looks like its coming along well but its too little too late

MongrelMan I'm not a G.M. man but what I see happening to American cars draws me concern and everytime I see somebody trying to impress me with an import I blow them away no matter how ridiculous.

They will be putting in a 425-hp engine in the Magnum as well as the Charger in the future. RT-8 or whatever. The wagon will be quite heavy, but the Charger should move along at a nice rate.

<<< Hands MongrelMan a Mustangforums Map!

I've owned all the American Car Companies cars over time - - even American Moters.

In general, they seem to have stayed a day late and dollar short since the late 70's with the imports.

It still just absolutely amazes me that Crystlar didn't make the Charger look like a charger.. and GM didn't make the GTO look like a GTO. They both seemed to just pick a car and stick name plates on them. How dumb was THAT!... if your going to bring a name plate back... make the car resemble it's namesake!

I suppose with the higher gas prices however us 05 and 06 mustang owners my just have the last of the Powerhouse cars for at least a decade. My bet is by 07' Ford will repeat history and start putting 4's in the base model and 6's in the GT's again.

I like all mustangs except for the converted Pinto ones and the early escort cousins. It was the gas shortages that spawned those versions.

I wanted to PLAY so bad on the way to work today.. but I got stuck behind a loaded dump truck with a cop behind me [:@][][&o]
