TCI Installed
I got my TCI shifter put in my 2007 Mustang GT. Early I put 3.73 gears in the rear.
The shifter and the new gearing work very will together. It is like a different car.
Has anyone else put TCI Ratchet Shifter in their car and how do you like it?

A few others on this Forum have installed the TCI StreetFighter shifter... check out this link: https://mustangforums.com/forum/4-6l...r-install.html
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on this mod... I'd like to hear your Pros and Cons (between manually shifting with TCI shifter vs. manually shifting with the OEM shifter)? Also curious to know if you experience a distinct metalic "ping" or "clunk" when downshifting from "D" to "3" (or is it as smooth/quiet as other downshifts)?

SirKnight: The sound question I'm referring to is from the transmission (not shifter)... when downshifting from "D" to "3". Will be interested to hear back on your installation and driving experience... good luck with install.

I don't understand how it's supposed to be used.. you ratchet it down to shift down, and then ratchet it up to shift up? I seen a video of it and it looks confusing... I like to manually shift as well, but it seems more annoying and less straight forward then the standard shifter.

Just like the stock, down to down-shift and up to up-shift. Not sure how it's confusing. The only difference is you "ratchet" up and down instead of moving the handle in a smooth continuous motion (which sucks).

About the "clunk" noise...
Right now if I manually pull the shifter down into 3rd I usually do not get any kind of clunk. But when I go into 2nd and 1st I do. But, I get the clunk even in D when the car downshifts into 2nd and 1st itself. But I have a little more than 52K on stock trans fluid and I think this is the reason I get the clunking b/c I didn't have it when the car had less miles on. Also I've had previous experience with clunking auto trans when the fluid needs to be changed.
The TCI is not going to take away or add any trans clunks you may have. As far as the trans knows, it has no idea there's a new shifter in there.
