*edit. Nevermind. Ancient thread.
Ha,ha! I said back from the dead. I don't think anyone would warranty that clutch after he said burn out on the street. I assume he had some sticky tires.

The OP was practicing 2nd gear clutch dump burnouts on the street with drag tires. AFAIK he didn't use any water on the tires. Spec didn't replace the clutch.

The only way you wanna be dumping it in 2nd gear from what I understand is if those tires are wettttt. Otherwise it will spin just about any clutch and in a major hurry.

The OP is selling the car and it's been demodded significantly.

Yes indeed. After reading the full thread, the only time you should be doing second gear clutch dumps is right after a quick spin in the wet box at the track.

Ancient thread or not, I am looking for a new clutch and was considering something from Spec. Has their quality gotten any better as of late?

I don't know, but i'll be installing a spec stage 3+ soon. It's about the only one, besides this post, that doesn't have a lot of complaints. If I didn't all ready have their flywheel, with replaceable friction plate, i'd be looking at something else, maybe. If you google exedy, ram, etc., you'll get lots of complaints.

Specs customer service is horrible, don't thank that has changed.

I have a stage 3+ setup sitting in my basement for when the stock clutch in my GT500 goes... I chose it due to the positive reviews from some GT500 guys that are running it...and most are running over 700 hp on it...so my little 650 should do just fine...
