I am jealous of you guy that took the jump to 4.10s. I'm not worried about too much gear, or gas mileage - I am afraid of picking up the dreaded 4.10 whine or vibration. I have just read too many horror stories.

I have spent 3 years reading post after post and being torn between 4.10's and 3.73's. I was so afraid that my car would be useless on the freeway. To my pleasant suprise my rpm has barely increased on the freeway. What's really nice now is the ability to pass and still keep it in 5th gear.

To anyone torn, 4.10's are not as bad and you may think. Our 5th gear really makes up for it and the car is a beast from a stand still. It's launches like a rubber band now.
lol i just had a similar thread to this for 3:90's a couple days ago , but either way i think you can agree , gears 3:90 and 4:10's are a hell of a difference!
again the slow breaks in mile torture was def worth it!

I have 4.10 whine... And i have money to drop down to 3.73's and do the install again... but you dont see me doing it

I've beaten cars 0-70 that i shouldnt have just because of my gears... where talking vehicles that have 50+ more HP with the same weight.

4.10 <3

i had 3.90s with pretty bad whine and a sqeak from the pinion bearing due to a crappy install, i changed em out for 4.10s and dont regret it.

Mustangracing4.6ltr, I didnt even notice a difference when I put in the 3.90s lol get some 4.10s and youll feel a difference

FRPP 4.10 gears here and I have no whine at all. I had a bit of a hum for about the first 1000 miles but it went away.

kinda off topic, but I have 4.10s and during the first snow fall of the winter - the 4.10s are great! (plus snow tires) I barely have to step on the gas and it goes. It seems to always want to kick down a gear even when I am just cruising, which makes it nice when I do want an extra boost without having to mash down completely on the throttle.

idk , i noticed the 3:90s right away after driving and for me it was a difference! but again, i love the new gears! im really it helps me gain some tenths instead of losing them in the 1/4 mile with a good launch!

I put 4.10's into my recently purchased 1991 LX last Friday. Absoutly love them, nothing like going from 2.73's to 4.10's. Car would barely turn the tires, now it roasts them at the tap of the throttle when power braking it.
