Default Predator Tuning

Hi

What differences if any has anyone noticed with the Predator tune for 87/89/91 Octane gas

Thanks

Steve

You will notice a difference, I have the 91 octane tune and the Mac cai kit, however if you go with a Mac you will need a custom tune. I got mine from Brent at DPT racing. The car runs alot better, the wire by throttle problem is gone, the shifts are much better also. You won't be disappointed.

Also I have read many threads and most people seem to be the most happy with he 91 tune ,that is why I went with it.

This may be a stupid question, but what does changing the octane in the computer do? Does it increase HP?

Increasing the octane allows you to advance the timing this makes more horse power, however if you advance it to much you will lose h.p. However the preditor has it built in, so it advances the timing to the right point, for whatever octane you choose.

Now that we are on the subject, does the X-Calibrator 2 give you the same options for octane?

I just did the Xcal2 tune with the Steeda CAI. I do notice that the car sounds a bit meaner at idle and while cruising (stock exhaust) and there appears to be a bit more kick to her as well (although I don’t think she was a slouch to begin with). I’m not sure about the drive by wire thing, because I don’t really know the mechanics of how it worked. But When I rev the engine, she does come back down to idle faster then she did before, but still not like a carbureted or linkage based intake.

I put on the 93 octane tune for her instead of the 87 one. I just like the idea of a better-rated and cleaner gas. I do believe, that with the tune, I have seen an increase in MPG as well so I hope that helps.

Other then that, I haven’t messed around with the Xcal2 to see what it can do.
