The
quality of

and the quality of the

and the draw back tamps,
there are a lot of factors
that are out of the installers
hands that can contribute
to gear whine and
early failure.

Avoid MOTIVE and be aware that some FRPPs are
Motives being resold by Ford. Look for the M stamp.
No I dont sell them, thats just what I have read, through most "gears and whine" post like this one.

first off, nice chariot you have! great lighting on the pic.....

okay.all I did today [all day] is investigate this elusive magic set of gears to choose...

dealer says bla, mechanic bla bla, online forums, what the f*(&%^!!!

I cannot find anyone on this island with about the same set up as I do to take a spin with to get an idea..

the top 5 people that I would concider compitant and know that what I want is ofcoarce to squeese the foam in my seat a bit harder but not to the point that it will be on my mind each time I put physics to the pedal....

they suggest 3.73 yukons.one top nothch wrencher stated 3.90s but no more..the jump from 3.31 to 3.73 seems to me to be signifigant and that I will definatly want to turn up the Van Halen [I cant drive 55] and at the same time view the bikinis on the beach without worring about pedal finesse....

PLEASE if anyone out there with 4.6 AUTOMATIC a CAI/BABA/tuner and 3.73 or 390. please reply

I've decided since I have an auto I'll get 3.73 since I do a lot of 70+ mph driving. The O/D RPMs there will be pretty similar to a manual with 4.10. Not exactly but close enough. The only thing is I was thinking of having my uncle (master certified tech) in Houston (200 miles away from me) install them. But I'm kind of worried about that long drive home at 70-80 mph for several hours. I don't want the gears to develop a whine so bad it's like having a whipple right next to my head at full boost constantly.
I don't do ANY driving over 50mph so gas milage not an issue..wear and tear? not an issue I drive 3 miles a day. but in those 3 miles I would like the option of flaming the firestones or being able to feather pedal in a stock way...

the cheapest compitant installer I found was for 400- and I dont want to have to do this over and over like my exhast...

oh and by the way I down loaded BAMAchips yesterday. I really need to get a hold of doug...the shift points have made the association with my shift kit a total mess! it reacts and sounds like it double shifts the same gear. I brought it to the dealer and concour something is not inline with the tune....

just a fyi, I would apprciate some shouts on the 3.73 with an Auto issue

What shift kit do you have? I've never heard of any one using a shift kit on this trans yet.

So if MPG is not an issue and you don't do much highway over 50, then the choice is easy and obvious, 4.10. That would be similar to 4.30 on a manual so it'll throw you back good.

I have the 4:10 FRPP ending with the A in the part number and don't have any whining problems. I think installation is everything with the correct back lash.
