Default p0053-p0054

I just had the service soon light come on after I re-tuned my car from 93 performance to 93 economy. And all of the sudden the service soon light came on, checked the errors with sct and got those two errors.

I wont' be able to get another tune until monday after I called today, but is there anything I need to do before that to fix that error or just gonna have to wait until monday?

EDIT: Did more research, it's definitely in the tune, it's apparently safe to drive until I get an updated one.

sorry if you already did this, but how about
going back to the 93 performance while
waiting for the updated tune, just to be on
the safe side. not sure what else to do.

It's just the tune from what I read order a new one, I found out it's from the o2 sensors their reading is off depending on which octane you got in the car. In my case it does it on 93, urs on 91.

I gotta wait until monday to get a new one, but it's alright to drive.

i dont know why this worked but i put the stock tune in and let it run for like 5 min... then put the 93 back in and it ran fine with no codes

I really think it's when you switch octane your o2 sensors get kinda messed up so when you go from 87 to 93 it's better to run your tank on 87 to as low as possible then fill up with 93, for extra caution you can run that until empty then on the next refill you should be fine for your tune.

But what I realize the problem might be since I ran mine at 87 until empty then put 93, I did the tune right then, so when my tank got pretty low the octane level wasn't high enough for the 02 sensors so it gave that light, but when I refilled it to max it was fine.

That worked for me, or maybe I'm just crazy.

I received the same codes when I switched from an '89 Brenspeed tune to a '93 tune. Brenspeed told me to run a tank of 93 gas on the 89 tune before upgrading the tune. I uploaded the 93 tune and received the P0053 & 54 codes, which read ho2 heater resistance (b1, s1 & s2). Figured I would call Brenspeed and see if they could fix the 93 tune.

In the meantime, I reloaded my stock tune and then uploaded my 89 tune again. Once the 89 tune was uploaded, I started the engine and the P codes did not show up.

I don't know much about tunes, but I wonder if you have to return the car to a stock tune before uploading another tune, ex. running 89, return to stock, then upload the 93 tune? Maybe that will avoid the codes. Something to try on another day. My car is simple though, C&L Racer CAI and Flowmaster axlebacks. Everything else is stock until this summer. Hope this helps.

I have a 09 as well and I have this happen right after updating a tune. Even after running the right octane for months, so I don't think it has anything at all to do with octane.

I simply reset the codes with the programmer and they never show up again. I personally think it's due to a bug in the SCT that doesn't properly deal with a change specific to that model year PCM.

I never had this happen before in my 07. I'm not worried about it since these codes show up only right after the tune download, and never appear again after that.
