buying delema
I am new to this board, in fact this would be my first Mustang. My last American car was a 1995 Z28. ( I must admit there is nothing like a V8) I have found a new 05 GT, I drove it for quite a while, in the city and highway. It felt great but am still a little hazitant in purchasing this car. I've been spoiled by the reliability of foreign cars and the quality of the dealer service, the few times something did go wrong.
I'm interested in finding out about the reliability of this car, any initial problems to look for, any long term problems, what is Ford dealer service like? Any information is appreciated.

RE: buying delema
Welcome to the forums. Most dealers are pretty good about everything. The new mustangs are actually pretty reliable. Anything else ask in the off topic or '05 section. Have fun!

If you have owned Japanese cars, then yes, you will see a difference. American cars have come a long way but they are not as reliable as Hondas, Toyotas, etc. There are 3 warranteed problems on my 05 GT that need to be fixed and I've only got 2000 miles on it. I never had a problem with any of my Hondas.
Still, since I bought the GT for the 5 second 0-60 times, I feel that i am still even. Most of the purchase price goes to the performance engine, not to a factory with a high quality rating.
I will recommend the GT but advise you wait for the '06!

These cars are too new to try and judge the reliability factor. This will have to come out over time as these cars get some age on them, BUT in general, I have owned Fords since 86 and I am convinced they have the most reliable cars on the market. As for the dealers, check with the local Better Business Beaura (sp) and word of mouth from people you know around the area who they have recommend. Then go to different dealers and see how they treat you as a potential customer. If they seem too pushy, don't deal with them.
