Well he was pushing 12psi and that's asking for trouble with a stock rotating assembly. Stay under 10psi on a good tried and tested tune and you will be fine. Still sorry to here about the blown motor OP.

I will say that these horror stories are why I'm still running the canned tune from Whipple. I know it's stupid rich to the point that there's no way my motor will pop from detonation. If I loose a rod, it's because it just couldn't take it anymore.

If you have a conservative tune and boost, then you don't need to worry.

God I never could afford one but that's horrible for him. Still paying for mine now in my final year and I probably have the oldest S197 here with 80,000 plus miles. I had some problems with my brenspeed tune at first but I solved that with running a higher octane gasoline and never looked back. I run the **** out of mine with the basic bolt-ons, c&l cai/brenspeed tune, Mac axlebacks and prochamber, steeda underdrive pullys and 4.10 gears.

Not sure if the OP is already done with his motor rebuild, but from what I've seen the Aluminator has very low compression (8.7:1 I think) and many guys are having trouble getting bit HP numbers with FI...
