Default 4.10's (engine/drivetrain wear and spinning tires)

Guys, with UDP's, CAI and tune, axle backs, Nitto NT555 255/50/17's and 4.10 gears I have two worrys! First, I'm not worried about top end speed, and I'm not worried about gas mileage, but I am a little worried about the 4.10's wearing on the drivetrain/engine because of it being in higher RPMs a lot, and I am a little worried about the 4.10's turning the tires over a little too easy in lower gears!! It's not a daily driver, but I still don't want to sweat the small stuff! Should I worry about this or should I pull up my panties mix a drink and enjoy the 4.10's?

I wouldn't go with 4.10s with your mods, you will have to shift to 5th on the 1/4 mile. got with 3.73 or 3.90's

Not to be an ***, but 4.30's end 4th gear at 110. Since he might barely trap that with his mods and since he is talking 4.10's and not 4.30's, he won't need to shift into 5th on the 1/4. In fact, I've heard rant that 4.10's necessitate a shift from 3rd to 4th on an otherwise stock 05+ stang. If a stock stang doesn't require 4th in the 1/4, he won't hit 5th with those mods.

I have never had to look for 5th in the 1/4. I can pull to 130 in 4th gear with a standard and 4:10's. You didn't say if you had a stick, or an auto. Most auto's go with 3.73's.

IMO ******* an engine is worse than spinning it a few hundred rpm's faster. Make sure and change your oil often and keep up with maintenance and you will be fine. If you have Nitto's you won't be turning those tires anywhere near as easy as stock tires.

Enjoy your drink!

If you're that worried about traction, get some suspension mods in there. LCAs, LCA reloction brackets, and a stiffer rear sway bar will help you put that power to the ground.

both 4th gears are 1:1 so unless you trap faster then 120 (doubt it) go with atleast 4.10s 4.30 if your a 5 speed

GET THE 4.10s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 255/50 17s tires too, but they are Nitto 450s. I also have BMR LCAs, and I do not have a problem with traction. I only loose traction if I want to loose traction if you know what I am saying. I was fearful of the 4.10s for a long time, but I am glad I got them. My car is my daily driver too (when weather permits). I race my car too, and I haven't been forced into 5th gear either.

Don't sweat the small stuff, the RPMs don't run as high as you might think. I got 23.3 mpg on a 200 mile trip running 75-80 mph while on the highway.

If you maintain your car properly everything will be fine.

DON'T FEAR THE GEAR

[sm=dontgetit.gif] Both 4th gears? He's only changing the rear gears right? Even in 4th his RPM's will be higher than stock gears... I think I'm confused.
