I use Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w20 oil. But I might switch to Royal Purple.

Oils I like. Amsoil, Pennzoil Platinum, Mobil 1 Extended Performance. I beleive in full synthetic oils for newer cars. I stay with Ford recommended 5W20 (0W20 Amsoil). Use a good filter and change it with every oil change, such as Motorcraft, Purolator Pure One, Wix, Amsoil, K&N, Mobil 1. Motorcraft is probably the best bang for the buck and a damn good filter. Avoid Fram. Just my $.02 worth.

I think that you cant go wrong with the previous suggestions. I would definitely recommend a full synthetic either amsoil, or RP with a high quality filter. I prefer the RP oil filter with 6 quarts of the 5w-20 RP in my GT.

i guarantee you that penzoil leaving a bad plastic coating on the engine topic is just a rumor. Penzoil is good, but you should go synthetic (Royal purple/Mobil 1).

Last (and first) oil change I did Amsoil XL 5w20 with Mobil 1 filter. Going to switch to Amsoil 0w20 and stick with Mobil 1 filter here in the next few days. Ran the 5w20 stuff 6000 miles and still is golden

There's nothing wrong with standard Penzoil, it's a fine product.

A full synthetic has two distinct advantages over standard dino oil. It can handle a lot of heat, which is good when you're racing. And you can significantly extend the drain intervals. If you're not interested in either of those qualities, stick with regular dino oil and change it according to the owner's manual. My '08 V6 calls for every 7,500 miles.

As far as synthetic oils, there are only 4 true synthetics on the market. And Mobile 1 is not one of them.

Your engine cane from the factory with Motorcraft 5W20 synthetic blend. Any good brand oil will do. I've put over 200,000 miles on at least 4 vehicles using various name brands of dino oil with not one burning or using oil.

Personally, I use Amsoil 0W20 in my GT, Motorcraft blend in the g/f's Stang and I use Mobil1 in my tow vehicle.

Just because it has a pennzoil sticker does not mean it was using pennzoil. Read the sticker for "oil type." If you go to a pennzoil quick lube, they just use the pennzoil oil "reminder" stickers in most cases...
if it says:
5w20 ....probly ****ty bulk oil
something like GTX or PZ 5w20 then it was castrol gtx or pennzoil

basically you want it to say anything except just "5w20" because chances are it was getting ****ty bulk (cheapest) oil.

I agree with .boB. I've been a fleet master mechanic for over 30 years, been to more factory schools than I can remember. Synthetic is great if your going to abuse your oil. If you use it for everyday driving and change at regular intervals, dino is fine. We've gone over and over this topic on some Harley forums and everyone has an opinion, that's why they sell so many different oils. I do run Amsoil in my Harley because the engine's air cooled and the oil does get abused.... You would be surprised the difference in oil filters but that's another story. Some of the one's you think are good, well just aren't. Just marketed right....
Keep it between the lines...

I usually use Mobile1 full synth 5w-20. Today I took my 07 Gt into Ford for the 30k mile maintenance (I didn't want to deal with replacing the fuel filter myself), and I noticed that the receipt said mobile1 full synth 5w-30. Not sure if they thought it was a pony car or if they went higher because of summer? I live around DC, so it doesn't get crazy hot around here.

Doubt it will hurt anything, the engine is still stock. Next change I will go back to my Mobile1 5w-20.
