Not so Cold Air Intake

Not so Cold Air Intake
So the mustang I bought a few weeks ago has a BBK Intake on it, and after running the car the intake gets to be very friggen hot...any ideas why? maybe would a new CAI of a different brand be more effective? or maybe some header wrap?
Thanks in advance

Actually, even at idle rpm the inlet air travels so fast thru the CAI that it doesn't have sufficient time to absorb any heat from the CAI.
That said, if the CAI felt hot to the touch after stop and go driving, then check it after driving on the open highway. If it gets only slightly warm, then you're good to go. But if it's still hot after a few hwy. miles, then you can always install header wrap.

my 2 cents, if you are pulling the air from under the hood, vs in the fender like on the SN95's, you are not getting any real cold air, you would be shocked at how high the under hood temps in stop and go traffic ar.

Don't sweat it (no pun intended). Even outside air at typical summer ambient temps won't make enough measurable difference to make rerouting worthwhile. the "C" in CAI is definately a misnomer.

FWIW, Bullitts and 2010+ GT's always pull in outside air, even when standing still at idle, and all GT's pull in outside air at speed.

Also, CAI's with plastic intake tubes got as hot, and sometimes hotter, than CAI's with metal tubes.
