Default Antenna Delete

In a few weeks car is going to shop to get hood, wing (already painted), louvers painted and installed. I got additional quote on antenna delete. Shocked extra $220 roughly. But I am going to do it. I found a few write ups. Seems the Metra UA-205 Amplified windshield mount antenna is a good idea.

My question.... why can't i just splice into factory antenna cable once antenna is removed? Anyone have other suggestions for an antenna?

The coax cable provides a shield that protects the very small antenna signal from stray noise that would swamp-out and corrupt the desired signal. A splice degrades that shield. A proper coupling would still degrade the signal, just not as much. This mating connector might provide acceptable performance.

Thanks worth $3 dollars to take a shot and see what happens.

This is a great looking mod, please keep us updated, especially if you can get it all to work out flawlessly; I just might want to give it a try myself. The stock antenna looks out of place to me on the S197 bodies.

I had the whole sound system removed including antennae, along with the a/c, heater, and loads of other stuff....so I can at least show you what the car looks like without the antennae. Also deleted the GT emblems.
