Differences between 2010 & 2011 GT

Supercar? lol. Maybe the 5.0 you drove was a zinger or something, because the one I drove was certainly a nice car, and a bit quicker overall than my 2010, but it wasn't enough to make me bite for the several thousand dollar price difference. I bought the 2010 and haven't looked back once. I remain completely impressed with the 2010, and the measly 23k I feel like I stole it for. The last vette I drove (which was an 08) felt way faster than any of the 3 S197s I've had, as well as the 2011 5.0 I drove, lol.
The 5.0 is a great car, but lets not get carried away...

I havent been on this site for a while - since i no longer have a mustang. I was not aware there was a 5.0 vs 4.6 bash fest going on - but i should of figured.
My apologies.
The 4.6 is a decent engine; it's just it got old (imo) and it's legacy imo was not that great. that engine should not of lasted as it did. I strongly believe if Ford did not go modular - we would of had much better trucks and muscle. but then again - the modular saved Ford.. that whole balance thing i guess.
I just have trouble understanding why anyone would sincerely pick the 2010 over the 2011. especially considering in like a year or 2 - the price wont be "several thousands more" heck - i'd wait 5 more years till the price went down. Over 415HP....in a few years , we're going to have dumbass kids riding around with near 500 Crank HP RWD cars w/ bolt ons.
The 4.6 owners simply will be outdated...and only by 1 year. they simply cannot keep up - and thats just facts.
besides the "several" thousand you spend..would not even justify a supercharger on the 3v 4.6. the reliability, and technology of the new 5.0 alone would be worth it - even if it was weaker after a FI 4.6
I really can't bash the 4.6 though. Everytime i pop the hood on a Crown Vic or Older mustang - i have many nostalgic memories.
My old baby
:sigh: you know - I take it back.. I loved my 4.6

The 2010 is a much improved car over the 05-09. I had a 2007 GT and a 2009 GT, so I'd say I'm pretty familiar with these cars. The 2010 out-handles the other 2 I had COLD... just a night and day difference. With the revised intake, it was also noticeably faster than the 07 or 09 bone stock. The interior is much nicer, and also I like the newer exterior quite a bit.
I was able to buy the 2010 for only 23k, and it stickered at nearly 30k. The cheapest 5.0 I could have gotten my hands on would have been 30-32k. I drove the 5.0, and while I liked it quite well, I didn't feel like it was so much faster than the 2010 as to be a reason to spend a lot more money. The reasons I, and probably many others went for the 2010s in the past 6 months are these:
1) Price
2) The 4.6L has been around for a while now and there are a ton of aftermarket pieces, including blowers, which I plan to do in the next few months.
3) The 4.6L has a known "ceiling" on both the tranny and the motors. It will take some time to really figure out when the 5.0 components will blow up.
4) Better handling than any other Mustang produced before it. Revised interior and body style.
5) While very cool, the 5.0 is brand new. New engines ALWAYS have various issues and bugs to work out. The last time I bought the first year of a new engine/model, I swore I'd never do it again. We are already seeing various complaints on the new cars, which is to be expected. The 2010 is pretty well de-bugged now, being the 6th year of production for the platform as a whole.
As to why not wait... I ask you, why wait to have fun? I'll stick a blower on this thing and enjoy the hell out of it, and in a few years when the 5.0s have been de-bugged, have been given more power probably, and we know what the limitations are... along with the price having undoubtedly dropped by then, then maybe I'll trade up to one. For now, I am an admirer, but I will let the early pioneers of buying that car go thru the warranty claims and TSBs, and limitations discovery process, while I have fun with what I've got.

I love my '10. I love it more the longer I have it. Sure there are 5.0's rolling around that are faster than my car but honestly how many times am I going to race one? Zero. So what does it matter in the end. I used to drive a 6 cycl ford escape and a 4cyl focus before that so even if the 4.6 is dated it still feels hella fast to me.
It also kinda of neat to know I am driving what will be one day a rare car. The 315 hp 4.6 with the factory air intake in the current body style is only in the '10. hehe I am already talking that up though I dont know if this car will be around long enough to become rare as it is my DD.

2011 what?
I dunno about you guys by I am in LOVE with my 2010 GT, I was looking into a 2011 But with taxes and fees and stuff the total was about 35K..........
Now my gently used 2010 GT with about 20k miles cost me about 20K...... Thats about 15K LESS than a 2011, i don't think 100 extra horsepower is worth 15 thousand dollars IMO...
And thats my story, BTW i came from a 2006 V6, so for now this is the best car I've ever had.

Wow! How can any of us drive an old ancient pos of 4.6 when the 5.0 is around. I mean, what are we thinking. The 4.6 is like model T era and the 5.0 is like powered by dilithium crystals! The 5.0 will make your yang longer and the 4.6 will actually shorten it. You will pick up the ladies in the 5.0 but in the 4.6 they will all run away screaming. My son won't even ride in the 4.6 now because he doesnt want anyone at school to see him. What was I thinking. This 4.6 has ruined my life. If only I had spent an extra $10,000 and got the 5.0, then I would have been able to drive my son to school, drive in my neighborhood without being laughed at and my wife wouldnt have left me.......
Give me a break!
