Roughly 0.2 to 0.25 seconds. depending on your current gear and you can hook up.

It would help in the 1/4 mile, but IMHO best reason to go to a 4.10 is fun to drive factor. These cars really are a different animal with 4.10's. :^)

How quick shifting out of 1st gear or better to start out in 2nd........I have an older fox body with 4.10....lots of fun....especially 2nd gear clutch drops. Definetly enhances the driving experience.

4.10s and some drag radials would make for a great drag combo

I was taught by elder racers that I respect, to take off easy in first until you know you have some traction, short shift from 1st to second ( about 4K rpm) to keep from spinning in second. Then give it hell from second on.

Cool

I agree, but depends on the situation......different launch techniques for varying cicumstances. On a desolate/secluded road a good 6000rpm clutch drop in 2nd gear is great fun.......a set of slicks and valve float clutch drop at the tree is lots of fun........driving in the rain granny it.

Maybe the elder racers had motors that only revved to 4,500 RPM. Did they have old Pontiac big blocks? Anyway at 4,000RPM your just entering peak power band, you're missing out a lot by shifting early.
