At least you didnt try and 'clean out' the engine with a water hose...

The engine is T O A S T.
A complete disassembly is required at this point...

too bad there isn't an audible alarm for low/no oil pressure, it
could have saved this poor chap several thousand $'s.

I guess they no longer tie the oil pressure sensor into the fuel pump relay to auto-shutdown the engine when oil pressure hits 0.

yeah apparently not....you would think that it might be part of
the failsafe system but the proof is in the pudding.

Curious why a smaller motor then stock was on your list...

Perhaps a typo, but I was wondering

Both are larger. A 302 = 5.0l, and our stock motors are 4.6l (281).

"Idiot Light" wins over the "Idiot Guage" again.
I love my 4 guage V6 cluster...
It chimes when an "Idiot Light" illuminates.

But forgetting to refill with oil is the best one I have heard this year...

I never had low oil pressure before, so my car never chimes, er, I never been in a situation where it would have chimed or whatever.

I have driven a beater Mazda for a DD and I toasted the engine by driving it while it overheated, which basically cooked all the oil out of the calve train.
Needless to say, I do not have that car anymore.

Ouch, I've always been scared of doing that, I guess my OCD can be a good thing. :^) I actually talk to myself before I start the car going through a checklist. Sorry that happened to you.
