Default Almost lost my motor

Today I went out to do my regular oil change. I never get close on mileage, but generally time. Anyways, I jacked the car up and notice my catch can is leaking oil. I go under the car with a rag and clean stuff and notice my motor mounts look strange. I keep looking and realize there are no bolts connecting the motor the mount on the driver side.

I go to the passenger side and find one bolt broke off, another missing and only one holding the entire thing in the car. So I panic I crap my pants and stomp around for an hour until I calm down. I get to work, measure, tinker and scribe the items I need to re-attach. Couple hours later I have got it all done. Except for one bolt on the passenger side, which is not the torque side so I am not too concerned.

My motor is different than 99% here! It is an iron block with a custom plate for mounting between the normal bracket and the block. My thought is that the bolts vibrated out because the high horsepower and the racing. This does not mean you shouldn't check this stuff.

It happens.

So when you change your oil on your car, look around, pull on wires, wipe things clean that are dirty, LOOK AT YOUR MOTOR MOUNTS, grab ahold of stuff and wiggle it . . .and make sure to keep beer on hand. I didn't have one all dang day.

That's what I said!!! I race, my neighbor races, his dad and brother were there, they race, my dad races. We all looked at it and were baffled.

Whatever it's fixed. It will be on a my regular pre-race check list now.

Jesus mother of mary, does it ever end?

You should just put stripper poll in the garage and wear a pink mechanics jacket when you go out there.
