Default GT500 Rims on my 06 question

So I went to buy these rims linked below from AM but I noticed the width of the rim listed is 9 inches and I could be wrong, ( I hope I am ) but isn't the width of the upgraded 18 inch stocerk rims 8.5?

My reason for asking is because I just bought this summer Nitto 555 tires sized 235/50/18 and want to verify they will fit the GT500 rims before I buy. I called AM and talked to Cust Service and he said they COULD fit but there might be premature wearing issues and that half inch width gap was a big difference. I asked what type of issues it could cause and he said he didn't know honestly.

So would I need to buy new tires if I bought those rims? Any assistance would be appreciated as I don't know a whole lot about tire sizing and whatnot.

My OE wheels were the 18 x 8.5 fanblades and I've been running the '07 GT500 rims for 3 years now. The GT500's are 18 x 9.5; perfect for going as high as a 285 on the back with 255's up front. You COULD go as skinny as the stock 235's but I think it would look gay. You need some meat on these cars and on those wheels.

EDIT:
OOPS. I see you meant the 2010 GT500's. Those are 18 x 9 but will still fit your stock bike tires. But I'd still go with 255's front and anything from 255 to 275 rear.

those 235s might be a touch small for those rims...WILL they work, not sure, others will have to help on that one, but I'd sell those nitto 555 235s (to me, lol) and go with either a staggered setup (like what NUKE said) or just go 255 or 275 all the way around...

After looking at some other info, I agree that the OE 235's on a 9" wheel are a bit too small.

I'm running 275's all around and have a alot of tramlining on heavily rutted roads. I'd do 255's front and 285's rear if I had to do it again.

That's what I was afraid of but glad I checked. I do plan on getting different tires down the road once mine are worn out but guess I'll wait now to buy an entire rim/tire combo.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

In that case, going staggered, looks like it be good to get

Rears = 18X10 rim, 275/40/18 tire

Fronts = 18X9 rim, 255/45/18 tire

That look about right to you guys?

That's the way I'd go.

I ran the stock 235-18 BFG's on my 9.5 inch wheels for around 10,000 miles with no problems. Yes they are a little small for that width of wheel, but they will work until you need to replace your tires. It didn't look abnormal, either.
