S197's unusually susceptible to windshield chips?

Flying rocks come from following too close to other vehicles that pick up
the rocks and throw them into the air. Stop following too close and
the magnet effect will disappear.
Glass is glass and none are better against flying rocks.
Change your driving habits.
On another note, are these rims made from cheap metal?
Everytime I hit a curb, a mark is produced on the rim.
Everytime.
I must have a curb magnet...

I have to agree 100%,,I have owned plenty of cars and this is by far the worst glass. Its a 2009 GT,,,I have had 2 chips repaired, and now have given up. I dont know if its cheap glass or more trucks on the road kicking up rocks. Just last weak got another chip low on the passenger side, and have decided to just leave it. At some point I will have to get a new glass.

OP here -
Just so everyone knows, I am driving on very wide interstate highways that are relatively clean and free of "dump trucks".
I drove my Mitsubishi Evo and my BMW 335i on this same route every day for 3 years and while I certainly *HEARD* many rocks hitting my windshield, none of them pitted it.
It may just be bad luck, but right now I am thinking it is just not a coincidence so many people think this glass is lousy.

I agree I have almost as many chips on mine as I had on my Taurus after 125,000 miles (vs. 35,00 on the Stang). I think it has to do with the more up-right angle of the windshield vs. that of the Taurus, etc... My Sister's Vovlo has an EXTREMELY upright windshield with expensive Pilkington glass and it gathers chips too...
