Default CAI and Tuner

Hey guys, ive put a few threads up before about this combo and I am still debating whether or not to pull the trigger and get the C&L Racer CAI and SF3 Tuner. I would probably run a 91 or 93 race tune and I was wondering if I will be getting better gas mileage or will this hurt it?
Thanks for any input on this.

ok...
A) this has really been covered at leas 45 times
B) You'll get people who say "you bought a mustang, not a civic. Who cares about mileage" and I agree, however, mileage is all up to your right foot my friend. Not like doing a CAI+Tuner is gonna drop you to 15mpg highway or anything.

Good luck

A cai and tune will not overly butcher your MPG, like s197 said, its up to your right foot. When I bought my first cai and brenspeed tune, I didnt notice a major change in the mpg but the power increase made the car an entire new animal. Well worth the cash.

I wasnt insinuating that the gas mileage my car gets bothers me. I know what I bought and the last thing I would ever own would be a civic or something like that and I would never be seen in a prius (hate the things). Anyway I was thinking that if the tuner and intake would give me better mpg it was another reason to bite the bullet and spend the $600.00 that I shouldnt really be spending haha.

Well its really not going to make any difference is what it comes down too. You'll prob see a small decrease from having more fun over the embarrassing stock tune.

Do it and never look back

If you can drive it AFTER the install like you drove it before, then your gas mileage will be the same if not a few tenths of a MPG less. But if you were to gain 1 MPG, you might hit the break-even point for the $600 expense in about 8-10 years.

Enjoy the change in power.

Better gas mileage? Probably not. It's sure worth getting rid of the stock tune, even if you choose to run 87 later.

Step up and do it! You will see why you bought a Mustang to start with.

yeah trust me....definitely do it. Having the 91 race tune, I will never look back. The difference between stock and even the 87 performance was alot but from the 87P to the 91 Race is alot different as well.

Its not just HP your adding but your changing throttle timing and everything. To me, its like driving a whole new car....

I was worried about spending the 554 for the JLT CAI but the difference it has made to the car is well worth it....

Do you think the C&L intake will be a big difference over some of the cheaper ones? Thats the one I was leaning towards because it says a tune is required so it must get quite a bit more air flow.
