I use Unicorn blood for my oil and fairy tears for my coolant.

When cash is short I use 10-30 non-synthetic for the B302 motor (as that is what Brenspeed recommends) and 5-30 syn for everything else.

Even under harsh conditions, the Motorcraft synthetic blend is good for 5,000 mi and under normal conditions, up to about 7500 miles (as recommended in the OM). But if you enjoy changing your blend at 3,000 mile intervals, have at it. Even todays dino oils are good beyond the old 3000 mile change frequency in todays engines.

Once a year with EA filter.

avg about 8k miles a year on the car.

Every 15k with regular EA filter in my my beater/DD 94 accord with 175k miles on it. Approx every 6 months this equates to.

I use RP 5w20 at the moment. I have 5000 miles on it now and it still looks as if it came straight out of the bottle. I intend to change it at 10000 miles but if it is still good then, I will maybe keep it a little longer.

Cars that don't have this system I generally go to a 10W-30 or 10W-40 (during spring summer fall only of course) to help with the engine wear over time. I have no clue how the VCT system ages over time so I'd rather not guess.
Actually, Ford designed the Coyote for much wider range than only 5w20 because the engine must accept the different oil weights that are SAE accepted for gasoline engines. This I believe is a USDOT regulation. Ford only says to use 5w20 because of CAFE requirements. But using 5w30 or 0w40 or any other oil weight that is acceptable for gasoline engines is ok. If I remember correctly, I think the Ford engineers who designed the 12 Boss 302 engine recommends 5w50? Or was it 0w50?
But all I am trying to say is TiVCT is designed to operate with even different oil weights so long as the weight is within SAE weights for gasoline engines.

Motorcraft 5-20 synblend for 30,000 trouble free miles.

IIRC I have read that the closer tolerances of alot of late model engines require the thinner oil. The heavier oil will not lubricate properly.

Just a question for the OP: do you feel a NEED to switch to a 5W30?
