Yeah, it was an almost 2 month old setup purchased from Lethal Performance by this lady up in North Carolina who just traded her Mustang in for a Corvette (don't ask me why...). Anyways, I first made sure the computer code was the same which it was, and then got more details about the setup including a copy of the original receipt. In the end, I felt perfectly comfortable with the purchase and spent $400 and change instead of over $800. Everything about it was legit...and so I went for it. The only worries I really have are 1)whether or not the tune will hurt the engine, especially after reading about the #8 issue and 2)what will this do to my warranty

Default 87 Octane to 93 Octane

In regards to the filling up the tank with 93 first, its more of a safety net feature. If you dont, there is a good chance there is some lower octane left if your tank (87, 89 or 91...whatever you used before 93). By having a tune that runs on 93 and having lower octane left, you probably will get some pinging. This can lead to detonation if you push the engine too much and is very very very bad.

Even when I was running 91 through 2-3 tanks and was running a 91 tune in my 08, I would get pinging in the high RPMs. Stupid AZ gas is terrible, so I had to try different gas stations that wouldnt cause the pinging.
I actually had 15 miles to empty in my tank when I installed the CAI and tune, and then filled up with 93. Hopefully I won't have any issues!

87 octane. OP. It's not worth the $3 you save a week.

The #8 failures are far and between. You are fine. SOOO many people with our mustangs have been running tunes since the beginning including me and nothing has happened except transmission issues. Even with that I have never owned a better car.

Drive it how it was meant to be driven. Don't be scared. If you are scared just get a 91 tune and run it on that. So far in every case I have read which was like 3, most are the same 2 guys throwing fits, they have had 93 octane tunes. Even so though this is like 2 or 3 cars out of how many thousands running 93? I run 91 because they dont sell 93 here but if they offered it I would run it!
