Taking Delivery on Tuesday...
Tried to take advantage of Labor Day sale and came away buying a 2012 GT Premium w/3.73 and Brembo package, Ingot Silver. Long story short, my car is being delivered by another dealer and will be ready on Tuesday. I will give the full details of my story in the delivery thread after Tuesday...
I enjoyed every minute of my 2007 GT, which kept me in the market for a 5.0.

OK...so to finish up this story...
I have been searching for a GT since April. after the Japan Tsunami, it seemed that dealers had a hard time getting supply of the new Mustangs. I was targeting sales events on Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. I've traded several emails with 4 different dealerships through June. None had much by way of GT's. and the very few they had, were not optioned to my liking. At the time, I was looking for a base GT, automatic. The only color I didn't want was Grabber Blue. Just personal preference. As it turns out, poor supply during this periods was a blessing in disguise. It didn't happen until early August when I changed my flavor to a manual, base GT with 3.73. I had found out that the auto's couldn't be optioned with 3.73's. So the search began. I visited one dealer in early August that had a base GT with 3.73 and Brembos. They gave me a good deal on the car, but lowballed me on my trade (or so I thought at the time). Regardless, the Sales Manager/closer couldn't itemize and explain the numbers to me so I could never trust him. Long story short, the deal didn't materialize. This car was black and I'm not so sure I wanted another black car. No biggie.
Fast forward to September. Last week, I discovered a white, base GT with 3.73's. I set an appointment to meet the sales rep on Saturday. The minute I set my foot through the door, the sales rep told me that the car was sold (not by him...but by another sales rep). Bummer. The sales guy felt bad so he offered to help find one at another dealer. We spent a few minutes looking at his computer (that even showed me invoice prices) and narrowed it down to two cars - a base GT with 3.73, Brembos in Candy Red and a Silver GT Premium with 3.73, Brembos and comfort package. Obviously I settled for the Silver one. The Candy Red was a beautiful color. However, I thought it would be a little too much for me. Again, just a personal preference. Trust me. You guys that own a Candy Red one look much better in one than I would. The negotiation for the Silver Premium wasn't much. The sales guy told me he would mark up $500 over invoice and subtract the rebates ($2,500 in total rebates). Ultimately, my cost was $4,790 below MSRP plus T&L. These are the hard #'s in case anyone attempts to negotiate for one.
The problem I ran into was with my trade. They really low balled me. Worse than the other dealer. Although, I felt more comfortable working with this sales guy than the last one. We went back and forth. I had one foot out the door and then he agreed to settle on $16,500. Rule #1, always be prepared to walk away.
In the end, I felt pretty good about my experience. I got a fair value (not good or great) for my trade. I fell that I got a great deal on the new car. I started the day looking for a base GT with 3.73's and ended up with a GT Premium, 3.73 w/brembos. I steped up and bought a more expensive car, but ultimately realized that it's not a bad thing since I'm stuck with this car for the next 5 years.
