Thanks guys! Mishri, I know the ls1 is quicker and I was thinking the trans am. BUT.... The sound and feel of the mustang simply cannot be replicated! In response to others, I think I'm goin for the 05 simply for price. I have about 15 for the car and upgrades will come with time. I'm looking for around 350 to the wheels. So, basically all the normal bolt ons and a lopey *** cam. I for sure want a 5 speed. Not knockin you autos out there, just my preference.

If you can swing an '07 it'll give you a little more piece of mind. Get familiar with the TSB's in the S197 main forum first. Some of the killer TSB issues were resolved beginning '07 (but not all).

Add LT's with those cams and that 350 RWHP is possibly doable with a few other mods you haven't mentioned.

Thanks for the insight nuke. Like I said not new to cars by any means, however to the 3v for sure. What's the tsb? I'm guessing a throttle sensor? Just a shot in the dark. I know they have the electronic throttle positioner right, no cable? Or am I totally off? Thanks for the help guys!

TSB=technical service bulletin

you know, things that are wrong with the car from the factory. as time goes on, they fix the problem with later year models.

350 is pretty doable with cams and bolt ons. or around in that ballpark.

Gotcha, basically issues, but not issues that were so prevalent it required a recall. Thanks for the info. Any of you experiencing these issues with the early (05,06) models?

Many folks have experienced a wide range of the TSB related issues. Off the top of my head and from most significant (don't have the specific TSB #'s in front of me):
  1. Water Leak - drips down the inside of the passenger kick panel where the Smart Junction Box is and eventually ruins the SJB. Lots of electrical gremlins until then.
  2. Fuel Pump - after steady state cruising, iar bubbles from in the pump. Doing any WOT (wide open throttle) or near WOT forces the bubbles out and the car will hesitate and buck
  3. Front End Clunk - going over bumps, audible clunk.
There are a LOT of TSB's and I just woke up...

Dont forget about the gas tank one that tricks the pump into thinking the tank is full
