Default Newly Modded Mustang (hearing things)

Hi All,

New to the forum so please be patient with me.

I've owned a 2011 Mustang GT six speed manual trans for about a year now, just recently put some mods in it:

1. Boss 302 Intake Manifold
2. C&L Cold Air Intake
3. 93 Octane BAMA Street Tune

I'm hearing a strange "slide whistle" type noise:

1. At moderate acceleration in gears 1-3, I'm hearing something that sounds like a slide whistle. Not getting a check engine light or anything. Seems like I only hear it while I'm in gear. And it goes away at cruise. It's louder the harder I push down the gas. Worried I've got a leak, but I'm not sure.

I've got the intake manifold torqued to 89 in/lbs as specified as well as the fuel rails (89 in/lbs).

Didn't torque the throttle body to anything specific but it's on pretty tight. Same with the C&L intake, it's on there pretty tight.

Was wondering if this noise is abnormal, or is it just audible now that the stock airbox has been removed?

Nevertheless, I'm taking it to a mechanic on Thursday. I guess I'll drive it gingerly until then.

Thanks,

Adam

You will probably get more info if you post in the 2005-2011 General Section, or the GT section of the 2005-2011 section.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

Welcome to MF I agree, probably just the sound of the incoming intake air. Not a biggie.

Thanks all for the piece of mind.. It definitely has crossed my mind that it could just be the intake. The strange thing about it is that it sounds like it's happening inside the cabin.. like the noise is coming in through the sound tube. I've heard air leaks before and they are easy to spot under the hood. This one, I'm not sure where it's coming from. So, you're probably right, probably just the intake bringing in air.

Thanks,

Adam

does it sound like the whine of a supercharger? kind of like this?

only reason I ask is cause you have the MT-82. If it does, I would return your car to stock and take it to the dealer.

Thanks for the info. That is the sound I'm getting but it's not as bad. If my car isn't stock, will they not fix this? It's gonna be a major pain returning my car to it's stock config... that would suck
