Default Fuel Tank Filling Issues

My '05 GT w/17k miles just started having the fuel tank fill issue a couple of weeks back. One forum suggests the 'vent line filter' is the culprit, another states its the 'evap canister' and another states to just leave the ignition key turned on and this will allow the 'vent valve' to open and solve the issue. Pricing and replacing the vent line filter first.

Like many other I had this problem back in 06 and 07...then it stopped. I did nothing, just turned the nozzle sideway a few times.

A couple of days back I left the key on, turned the nozzle handle to the 2oclock position and was able to 'slow/moderate' fill the tank. Ordered a new vent line filter for the evap system ($20+).

Tech looked at it and stated he could find no 'blockage issues'. Well, something is 'blocked' somewhere as it filled fine for years up until recently.

I know this is a stale thread but here's an update. There was nothing wrong with the vent line filter as installed. I began filling the tank with the key on, and/or holding the nozzle handle at the 2 o'clock position and the problem corrected itself. Something about the 'fast fill' deformed or blocked something somewhere. Now, I just do slow/moderate fills from the normal 6 o'clock position and everything is fine. First time back in a long time; attempted to post to another thread and was blocked - posted here just fine.
