I installed Focals in the door of my 2010 and it was a huge difference. Much cleaner sound. Starting in 2010 though they integrated the head unit into the center stack, so harder to change out. Regardless, audio wise when I had my 06 I was looking at the Pioneers. I swapped the head unit out of my explorer and it was a huge change even with the stock speakers on a Pioneer. OEM is pretty much crap.

I tried TWO of the PAC aux input connectors... couldn't get either of them to work properly in my '05 (Shaker 1000). Then found a similar unit at Logjam Electronics... works like a charm, tho there's no gain control (wish it were a bit more). And even better, the unit is powered through the harness... no need to run separate lines to power the unit. Used an iSimple dash-mount 3.5 mm input jack (mounted in the console) which plugged into the module... looks factory. I suppose you're looking for an iPhone interface... they may be out there... don't know. I decided to go generic, so that I could use my Droid X, Zune HD, or any other device I choose. Good luck...
