Annoying 1-4th forced shift on 2012 GT manual
#12
I still don't understand this feature. It has never worked for me. I have had no problems shifting from 1st to 2nd in casual driving since the day I drove the car off the lot. The only thing that shows up on my message center is "1 - 4". I just ignore it.

You are better off going from 1st to third.. but.. starting in second won't hurt anything.

+1 maybe with the 3.73 gears it's not supposed to work? I had at/a that had it disabled as well. A friend took me for a ride in his car and I saw it skip him over and he started swearing. Until then, I had no idea it was a mechanical deal...

Just unplugged the sensor. The fix works as advertised. Still get the message but no forced skip shift. Add in the slightly deeper sound from the newly installed GT500 axleback's and i am liking the car a little better now!

I still get it in mine from time to time. Just passed the 1,200 mile mark..... I don't see where it actually saves any gas. The engine bogs down a bit and it seems to take more pedal to get going, and that's just normal driving not spirited at all. I have 3.55s.
I still think it's a pointless feature. I'd rather have the hill assist than it. Both are for inexperienced manual drivers anywhere.... A dieing breed to start with.

True that. I guess Ford looks at it on a massive macro-economic scale: one drop of gas does not save you anything, but 1 drop times 36,000 '11 GTs is roughly 1/3 of a gallon saved on the global fuel supply.
Wait a minute, only 1/3 of a gallon saved for skip shift doing its thing over 36,000 GTs? That's just as asinine!
