It really depends on the timing and how you press the pedal from a dead stop. Based on my experience, the computer seems to think immediate input from a dig that is only 1/4 throttle open and a shift pt of about 2k is that of a 'miserly' driver and thus engages the dreaded skip shift.

However while this is the most hated feature of the car, ironically it is probably the only feature keeping it viable in the bean-counters' eyes. You know the same people that wanted to call a MX-6 a Mustang?

The goal of the skip shift is really to save the American RWD v8. The Corvette guys actually have an aftermarket module that plugs in place of the solenoid to disable their 1-4; which I also believe works on the LSx cousins like the GTO and Camaro. It sucks; but it is the only way a car like the Mustang GT can remain relevant in today's age.

Get used to it; it will make its way into future high power, low mileage return Mustangs. Is it the manufacturers just not wanted to develop the technology needed? Or are we reaching the limits of physics? Who knows.

At least Team Mustang gave us one concession; it's just a simple fuse underneath the car.

Wow, CAGS, Computer Aided Gear Selection, this reminds me of two Vettes I once owned. First one, a '92, had a skip shift kit which required unplugging the solenoid wiring, installing a dummy receptacle at that end (prevented CEL),and a plug into the trans end that kept crap out. My 2000, It was taken out with the EFI Live tune.....or you could just make sure you shifted over 2k! That was done for fuel efficiency to keep the Vette out of gas guzzler territory.
