Default no love for the 4.6 3v?

Maybe Im wrong, but it seems like there is an attitude of disrespect for the 4.6 3v ever since the new 3.7 V-6 was introduced. I understand why I mean a V-6 with the power of the previous V-8.
Lets consider that the 4.6(281cu in) is the smallest V-8 put in a mustang...sure the 260 was smaller but lets say in the last 40 yrs. The 4.6 still has strong performance. lets compare it to other small V-8 Mustangs throughout history. who could forget the awesome 289, which in the hands of Mr. Shelby produced 306hp otherwise known as the GT350 which is still one of the most sought after Mustangs in history, its right in the same neighborhood as far as hp is concerned. Another All-TIME favorite the 1970 Boss 302 had output rating of 290hp,performance numbers suggest otherwise. but still the 4.6 still holds its own.
Remember in 82 when Ford claimed "The Boss is Back" as the reintroduced the 5.0 which pushed 157 hp. Even into the mid 90s the 5.0 was only putting out 225hp, sure in its time it was an awesome motor.
Anyway thats mu thoughts...Sorry if I offended anyone but just had to vent.

I don't think there's really a lack of respect or enjoyment with the 4.6 3V, I just think that people are becoming more and more in awe of how far technology has really advanced engine technology.

Heck I mean look at the 5.4L V8 in the raptor last year, it made 305hp or something to that effect, and here we stand this year with a 5.0L engine in the mustang making 107 more hp with .4 fewer liters of displacement. Honestly it's incredible the advances that are taking place currently, putting down more power more efficiently and with more ease than ever before.

There will always be respect for all engines that have made a significant impact, but naturally the news is going to surround what's new and improved, not what's been great in the past.

Yeah I don't think there's a lack of love or respect for the 3vs either, just technology and progression has taken things pretty far in a short period of time. pdonket hit it on the head. Thing I'm curious is to how far are things going to go? There's a new freakin' Kia Optima making like 270something hp which would easily walk my car stock. Sign of the times

If there was no love for the 3vs why am I having such a difficult time finding one cheap for a swap!? lol

which one is the big one? Seems too me if 2 are on one sde then the lone one would be larger than the other 2. If I were a betting man ,( I am), I would have the lone one for intake and the other 2 for exhaust.......am I right?

I kind of feel where DCzapla is coming from on this. I woke up the other day and jumped in my GT only to notice that somebody had "written" 5.0 on my driver side mirror while i had been asleep. I dont try to rep my car as a 5.0, it is what it is and that is a modded 06 4.6l. I mean ultimately when i finish my last year of post grad, get another motorcycle, and maybe a different dd then ill look for a engine swap or a sizeable blower to compete with the newer cars...but not now.

Two intake, one exhaust. Intake valves are normally larger to accommodate the need to get the air/fuel charge into the cylinder. In this case, the 2 intake valves count as the 1 larger intake valve in a normal 2V.

Thats like some douche writing v-8 on a v-6 ride...........I don't get it, Why would anyone even want, to do that. Number 1 It's nobody's bussiness what someone rides, and #2, Why should any one care? So if Ya went and got the 5.0 the next sicn on the mirror would be an ''ok'' sign! whatever, I hate people sometimes......This is a reason why I have a camaera just waiting too catch an a$$hole in the act. I'm sorry this happened too you ,bud.

In other words, it is more difficult to pull air into the cylinder than it is to push out.
