It doesn't bother me all that much. It only comes on when I'm driving normally, and I usually shift 1-3-5-6, 1-3-4-6, or 1-4-6 anyway when cruising. I hardly ever see 2nd gear. Fuel is just too durn expensive (and going up) and a Race Red 2012 Mustang is like crack for the Cops. I try to keep a low profile as much as possible.

so I was playing around with it, and actually paying attention to keeping the car within the given parameters. It actually did lock my out of second gear until the window had passed. I was a bit shocked, as I had never noticed this "lock out" before.

Either way, I don't think I'll worry about it.

I dont call it SkipShift, I omit the "f" and call it SkipS***, LOL

Anyway, in my car, at first, SkipS*** would lock me hard out of 2nd & 3rd gear when the tach message board lit it up. But over time of just forcing it into 2nd when the message lit up, eventually, SkipS*** quit working and let me go into 2nd and 3rd as if it were not even there. I.e. the message board would light up, but I just go into 2nd with no resistance at all.

I think the ECU adaptive learning realized how stubborn I was and just said "Oh, F*** it" and quit giving that stupid forced lockout.

I avoid it by typically starting in 2nd gear. I only use 1st when at a complete standstill heading uphill or if I want to launch as fast as possible (drag race). It helps that I have 3.73 gears, though.

i havent tried intentionally doing this yet, i will soon

obviously needs to be a manual car, i dont think the autos have a thing like this, do they? seems bastardious of ford to do this to only manual owners
I've tried like hell this week using the above criteria to get it to skip shift intentionally but I can't. The only time it ever skips is when I least expect it. It doesn't happen that much to me either. I bet it's done it less than a dozen times in 8 months of having this car.
