Default Mod time, Help me out

Hey guys, my car is fresh out of storage and ready to do a bit of mods to it. I just changed the oil and filters. Now Im looking to spend some money on the car now. Ive set aside around 1000$ to put into the car. Im running bone stock 08 gt (performance wise). I was thinking maybe tune/intake combo? Whats recommended? Any other suggestions? There is just so much to choose from!

Thanks
Kevin

Absolutely a CAI & tune. Pick any of the combos that use a tune-required CAI; all of the tune-required CAI's are equivalent in performance so choose based on what suits your eyes and your wallet. AM/Bama can assist you on what tunes to pick but I recommend an 87 custom tune to go with the other 2 tunes especially if you travel. I've had at least 2 instances when I could only find 87 in the middle of BF Egypt at 3 am.

With the remainder (about $350-$400?), you might be able to swing gears (which you'll need the tuner for so you can reset the PCM for the gear size).

I have a second car so i dont do much traveling in my car, just driven for fun. How is the higher octane tunes? Is there a big difference?

Gears are something I would need to have installed, So that would probably be out of range for the remainder.

I would probably get my tuner/intake from brenspeed. Any favorites?

I see they offer painted CIA. Anyone have a pic of a white mustang with a painted intake? I tried the google thing but had no luck. Any recommendations as for what brand of CIA to get from brenspeed.

I bought my '06 GT bone stock a couple years ago and here are the mods I've done, with some comments:

http://www.uprproducts.com/mustang-b...sct-tuner.html

http://www.uprproducts.com/mustang-o...x-pipe-05.html

^^I listed the UPR/SCT Tuner, UPR CAI, and UPR X-pipe together because I installed them all at once. You need a tune for the CAI and the off-road x-pipe, so I ordered the three parts together, with a tune that would make them work. The installation was super easy and I was surprised by the increase in horsepower. It's supposed to be close to 40hp and I haven't dynoed it, but it was a day and night difference. Another thing that surprised me is that the car went from 19.something MPGs to 22.7MPGs (city) with the 93 octane tune. More power and better MPGs!

Here's a video of how it sounds with GT500 axle backs-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUz3IhQ1fF8

Healthy sounding, but not too loud and no drone whatsoever.

I also installed our short throw shifter:

This was also a simple install and it is light years better than the factory unit.

Here's where it really gets fun! After installing 18x9.5 GT500s from American Muscle with 275/40-18 NT05s, I started working on the suspension.

I installed UPR Pro Series lowering springs, UPR Pro Street control arms, and the UPR adjustable PHB and brace. This car is quite a bit of fun to drive with this set up! It has plenty of traction in the corners and in a straight line, but without a harsh ride quality.

Last but not least, I noticed a little bit of oil smoke on start up one day and I was freaking out, but I remembered that people swear by the oil catch cans for our cars, so I tried ours out. It looks nice, and check out how much oil it caught in one month!

Anyway, those are a few mods I tried that worked out nicely. I'd really like to add some boost of some sort, but that will have to wait just a little while...

Fwiw, every part we (UPR) manufacture is Made in America, carries a Lifetime Guarantee, and MF.com members get a 10% discount on them.

That car sounds really good, how does UPR compare to the competition?

There's a huge difference between the stock 87 and the custom 87 tunes. The differences from the custom 87 to 89 (or 91) aren't quite as dramatic and the differences between the 89 (or 91) and 93 aren't quite as dramatic but the gains are there nonetheless. Also my 87, 89 and 93 Brenspeed tunes each have different characteristics.
