Default Problems with Headlights...

Is it possible to have one light as a high beam and one as a low beam?

My driver side head light is aimed much higher than my passenger side when I turn mu head lights on. When I switch to high beams my driver side lowers and my passenger side raises. Kinda like they're switching. One is always on low beam and one is always on high beam. Is this possible? I know the car was in an accident before I bought it so they may have contributed to this issue.

I'd like to take car of it myself, any ideas?

Maybe one's upside down.

Seriously though, if it was wrecked I would bet the headlight was replaced with a cheap knock off. See if it is a Ford piece. Do you know what part of the car was wrecked? Was it the front?

Teh car fax shows that the front fascia was replaced for a minor collision. I know is was stolen of the lot of a dealership and then the ahole let is roll into something. The car drives really smooth so they either did a great job repairing it or it wasnt heavely damaged.

I'll look at the parts this after noon and see it I notice the brand on it. i do have a warranty the completely covers the car i just dont want to hassle with it if I can fix it. I may have to take it in though, people keep high beaming me.

Have you tried adjusting the drivers side light?

I did, I adjusted the top bolt but it only moved slightly. Probably a 1/4". Any more and it would look abnormal compared to the other light. Also, it wouldnt look right with the other componets of the car like the hood and fascia. You can see the light assembly is in the right location, it looks very similar to the other sidwe which is working properly.

So thats why im thinking its a wiring problem, just don't know if thats even possible.

The plug goes on only one way. I guess its possible if the plug was spliced for some reason and done in correctly.

I'll look closer at my headlights when I'm not at work and see if I can come up with something. I'm thinking because its one bulb with two filaments, one is light for low and both are lit for high. But I need to verify that first.

Thats what it looks like, there is only one bulb and must have two filaments. i'll have to look at the wiring tonight to see if they differer from side to side. maybe the damaged side had to be replaced and was installed incorrectly. that would make sense at least.

If it is a dual filament bulb, it may be installed upside-down making the high beam bulb hit the focal point of the low beam reflector position and vice-versa.

I'm pretty sure the bulb fits in the housing one way as well. At least it should.
