Default Dissapointing Dyno!

Ran my car today pulled 398 on the dyno..just seems pretty low for my setup. It was a dynometer not a dyno jet. Biggest question is that the AF ratio was 10:1 isn't that off for this car? My understanding was 12-12.5:1. Also I thought the 1:1 gear in this car was 5th..however the pull in 5th was 8hp lower than 4th..crap never thought I would see the day I would be upset with 400hp pull in a na car..

That does sound a bit to rich. 5th is the 1:1 and 4th being a reduction gear it will be sightly higher.

I think 398 on the 5.0 with the CAI & tune and Boss intake (your only real power gainers) is mildly decent. The 5.0 stock puts down about 350-360 IIRC. I'd think you'd be just over 400 but I wouldn't quibble over single digits. More importantly, what was your torque?

Torque was 343 so around 15% drivetrain loss from stock. Not bad with the boss intake. And yes it is mildly decent; that bugs me. Even the guy at the dyno said it was a bit lower than comparable cars. I think its a tune issue 10:1 is just to rich. I had a problem when I uploaded the boss update to my car. I was originally running a 93 race tune and I think I jacked up the update to something different. I had felt like the bottom end of the car had been feeling totally different. Not different because of the boss; different from the throttle response from the aggresive 93 race tune. Gonna call brenspeed tommrow and figure it out. I know that AF ratio is out of whack so much like most guys and their cars it bugs me. Either way ain't many cars that can throw down like this one with a few mods..

10:1 is rich on a forced induction setup!

I know what you mean about disappointment. I got 366whp on my 91oct tune. My a/f's were around 12.5:1 I need better gears...and about a 6000ft drop in elevation.

I called brenspeed today..the are sending my tune back out to make sure there aren't any issues with it. I mean almost 400 to the wheels is great never thought I would be standing next to a naturally asperated car with a couple of bolt ons turning 400 scratching my head and saying "whats wrong?"..haha guess I should be happy with it. Breenspeed said their cars with similar setups pull similar numbers. I think there are just to many dynos out there lying about these cars..380 stock?? that means only 5% drive train loss and that is impossible. Ford has had these vehicles certified to within 1% statistical gain or loss. I'm sure they know how to measure horsepower.

The 5.0 is known for "loosening up" within about 10k-20k miles. Guys that have dynoed practically off the showroom floor and then after some miles are claiming that the 5.0 puts down about 10-20 more RWHP more after this minor break-in.
