Default Hot rod cams, Detroit rocker Question

Hey guys. I read through some guides about installing these. Seems like something I can handle. The only question I have is when your finished with the install do they need to be broken in. I remember being told by my dad an old trans am he build he had to run at mid rpm for 20min to break in the cam. On another note, he uses gasket sealing lube in two spots. Is there any particular brand I should look for?

Is there any tips you can give a newbie about doing this? Im mechanically and electronically smart. Just very little experience working on cars. Hopefully that will change

Also is there any difference with the detroit rocker cams that would not be displayed in this guide:

Thanks
Kevin

No difference installing the rockers. I used this same guide when I did mine. Just take your time, there isn't a whole lot of room, helps to have real skinny fingers lol, and remember some followers go in from the top and some from the bottom. Use plenty of assembly lube on the journals. no break-in really needed. I just used some black RTV for sealant, works fine.

Yes they need to be broke. In. Unsure about the Rockers but I have Ford Racing Hot Rods that were set to sound like a Harley, low and slow, but now they've broken in they lope faster and will stay there. I like it a bit faster because the car now doesn't sound like its going to die any second.

Out of the ones that I have looked at, I think that the best balance of power and sound would either be the Detroit Rockers or the Comp ***** Thumprs. If you want more sound than power, Hot Rods. More power than sound, Comp Stage 2 NSR. Of course, these are all the easier/cheaper to install cams.
