Technically you don't need them, but I recommend them!
I installed cams before my CMDPs and felt that the engine seemed starved for air before CMDPs. I spoke to Brent at Brenspeed and he suggested the CMDPs to open up the intake side and wow what a difference! Idle sounds more powerful and deeper, and low-end torque increased dramatically. Do what you want, but I highly suggest CMDP with cams!

Theres a link.
And the install is not hard at all. All you have to do is pull the intake manifold off and swap out the plates. But look up taco bills install, he has a very detailed write up with pics.

I just put the frpp hot rod cams in my buddies 07 gt along with flowmaster American thunder mufflers. Haven't upgraded the headers yet but the sound.... Amazing... And the power....WELL worth the time involved with the cam swap.... If your worried about the volume level... It's not that bad at all... My buddy actually wants it louder lol... But even with his 4.10 gears an mufflers an cams at cruising speeds it's a perfect balance of loudness... An uncorking it is only a pedal away

I just had Brenspeed (yesterday) install there detroit rocker cams in my 05 GT and really, really like them. My car is DD also and have no driveabilty issues at all. The power above 3000 rpm is amazing and the idle is very nice. Also loved the experince at Brenspeed, great group of guys. Install was about 3.5 hours.
