Default The 34 year wait is over!

About a month ago my wife surprised me for my 50th birthday with a 2007 GT convertable. (Yea, I know, she's awesome).

I've wanted a mustang since I started driving 34 years ago. Now I want to make sure I get the most out of it. I would like to put together my own version of a gt350. Meaning to me, at least 350rwhp. I'm looking for suggestions on how I can accomplish that in the safest, least destructive, most economical and most of all most fun way.

Right now the car is stock with the exception of a K&N CAI that was there when I got it.

Thanks for the input!

Congrats, I picked up my 2006 Mustang Pony after 40 years since I had my first Mustang, a 1965 coupe with 4 speed manual , 289. I feels so good doesn't it.....

That it does. I'm having a blast with it and I'm starting to worry a little bit about maybe being addicted to it. I can't wait to fire it up and get rolling.

350 RWHP is a goal of mine as well. The most economical way to go about this would be to supercharge it. There are a ton of different superchargers that you could put on there. The absolute lowest you will make supercharged is about 380-390 RWHP with the Roush M90.

Alternatively, if you want to stay naturally aspirated, you will have to do a bit more. The auto transmission robs a few horsepower, so keep that in mind. Most NA people that I see making 350 or greater have something like

-CAI/tune
-LT headers/full exhaust
-Cams(If NSR cams, keep reading down the list. If VSR or SPR, you can make 350 with these and the above mods)
-Larger Throttle Body
-Intake Manifold
-Underdrive Pulleys

People with those mods wish they were making 350 rwhp.

You'd be doing well to make 320-330 with that at the wheels. At the crank is another story.

Lol @ wish they were making 350rwhp.

It all depends on multiple factors Roush05... Especially the dyno. Don't get carried away with dyno numbers, you aren't racing dyno against dyno.

Thanks for all the input so far.

I seem to have an aversion to superchargers and turbo chargers. It just somehow doesn't ring true for me. So I would be looking at staying N/A.

You'll notice that I didn't include "quickest" as one of my qualifiers in the original post. I'm not opposed to spending a couple of years and several $k to accomplish this but I really want to enjoy the process.

I'm also considering sticking with FRPP parts as much as possible. Has anyone gone that route, and if so, what did it take in parts and dollars to get there?

Thanks again!

Congrads on the new ride!
Sounds like your on the right track with your engine. 350hp is a number that can be had n/a.

Obvious setup with FRPPs, with a couple of steeda parts thrown in
CAI / Tune
Hot rod cam
L/T full exhaust
CMDP's (steeda)
UDP's (steeda)...just for starters and should have you in the 325hp area.

Go get max hp from a cammed setup go with a comp cam as apposed to the hot-rod (sound) cams. You will pick up some more hp there and combined with a FRPP intake may get you to 350...it should be close.
Good-luck and enjoy the build

If you're trying to match the retro numbers, you only have to shoot for about 305-310hp! .
