Now that you've lost a fob, think about the fact you could lose a key. Pick up another key now and program the 3 keys. That way if you lose a key you still have 2 keys that are programmed and can program a new key.

If you only have one working key you can't program a new key yourself, unlike the fobs. Keys require you to have 2 working keys. If you lose a key you have to go the dealership to cut a new key and program it - about a $120 deal or more depending upon your dealer.

I think you need to have 2 working fobs on hand when you want to program a 3rd. You do them all at once. If you only have one, you might have to make that trip to the stealership after all. That's why the first thing I did was to program a spare so if I do loose one, I still have the required 2.

The fob is different from the key. Key you need 2 working keys to program a third.

Fob you can program one even if you lost all of them and bought one of Ebay. You only need to have all the fobs to be programmed with you because as soon as you program the first one all other fobs will be disabled for that car.

The programming instruction is in the owners manual. I can't remember the details, I know that you turn the key to "on" a number of times, the locks then click on and off, you hit a button on the first fob, hit a button on the second fob, then the third. You need all of them with you because as soon as you program the first one the other two are locked out.

From the 2006 owner manual:

You must have all remote entry transmitters (maximum of four)
available before beginning this procedure.

To reprogram the remote entry
transmitters:
1. Ensure the vehicle is
electronically unlocked.
2. Put the key in the ignition.
3. Cycle eight times rapidly (within
10 seconds) between the 1
(OFF/LOCK) position and 3 (ON).
Note: The eighth turn must end in
the 3 (ON) position. The doors will
lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been
activated.
4. Within 20 seconds press any button on the remote entry transmitter.
Note: If more than 20 seconds have passed you will need to start the
procedure over again. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that
this remote entry transmitter has been programmed.
5. Repeat Step 4 to program each additional remote entry transmitter.
6. Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position after you have
finished programming all of the remote entry transmitters. Note: After
20 seconds, you will automatically exit the programming mode. The
doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has
been exited.
