Question Looking for a fairly mild cat-back exhaust...

Hey Guys,

So this is the deal. The stock exhaust on my Mustang is a bit too quiet. I am looking for something that will bring out the rumble, but not be obnoxious. I daily drive the car so I want no drone. I am not looking for people to turn their heads when I am a mile away. I did a search, but there are so many threads with people looking for different things. My car is stock. No headers will ever be installed (too loud). I come from a GTO/F-body background, where catbacks where the way to go. Why are axle-backs popular for the Mustang? Is the cat-back tubing large enough stock? Opinions will be much appreciated! Thanks.

Adam

An axleback will provide no less sound improvement compared to a catback and is cheaper.

BOOM... http://www.americanmuscle.com/pypes-...iolatorss.html

Very little drone, great rumble with more volume. Polished to boot!
One of the first mods I did to a then stock setup.
Fit was a PITA to get right, but other than that a great A/B!

If you just want a little bit of improved volume without it being too loud then look for a used GT500 take-off axle back.. Or you can buy a new set for about 300..

A warning related to Pypes: The weld quality on my Pypes bombs was very poor. The welds on three of the four hangers have failed, resulting in a nasty buzz and rattle. I have attempted to have them re-welded twice but to no avail.

Not saying all Pypes stuff is poor quality, just one man's experience.

Oh, and they offer no warranty at all on their muffler delete systems...

I would have to hear the stock GT500 take off's on a stock 5.0. I will do some searching unless somebody has a video of that. Otherwise, maybe a notch louder than those.

No regrets here, and you can't beat the price. Plus if you don't like them put them up for sale and they will be gone really quick.
