What about a different replacement TOB, like the ford racing one - anyone know if this will last longer? Or am I going to have to look forward to doing this every 80k miles?

Well I just ordered the Exedy throw out bearing to go along with that clutch. I'll take the advice Diabolical and get it replaced. I've never let a mechanic touch my car over the last year with everything I have done but for this job I am going to bite the bullet and pay someone to do it. I've replaced clutches/TOB on dirt stock cars way too many times on a concrete floor to enjoy this anymore.

Do you have any advice or suggestions with letting someone else do the install? Is there anything I should worn the mechanics about before they tackle the job?

There any decent "taco-bill" type walkthru's to changing all this out for our vehicles that you(or anyone else) know of? While everything is fine with mine so far, I'm sure at 78k now it won't be much longer, and I'd like to do it myself.

While the install/removal sections of the workshop manuals will do, they are a bit "dry" to get the feel for all that's necessary for something with this level of PIA behind it.

This is a pretty good guide done by forums member "Hammeron". It's not quite taco bill detailed, but taco bill's write ups are so detailed because they're usually pretty small jobs. This is NOT a small job.

If your mechanic has not done a clutch change on a 3V GT before, it would be good to warn him that the transmission will not clear the tunnel without either tilting the motor way back (impossible with some roots/twin screw blowers) or lowering the K-member. He'll appreciate that knowledge when he reaches that point in the job.

Not to jack this, but got a question. Is it best to get the flywheel resurfaced or spend the 83 after shipping to get one from newtakeoff? I'm on somewhat of a budget so not sure which would be better and I'll be doing all the work myself.

If it doesn't have any hot spots, resurfacing is fine. If it does, get a new one.
