I committed the most unholy of gear grinding last night through an epic missed shift. Screamed louder than a bus full of kids going off a cliff. Would a new shifter, say MGW, eliminate this issue?

You can miss a gear due to bad shifting even with the best shifter on the market, but it's a lot less likely.

I'd like to think I'm not a terrible driver, but would like to decrease my chance of it happening again if at all possible.

MGW is an excellent choice. I still miss a gear every great once in a while, but I'm powershifting at 6500 rpms, so I can't blame the shifter.

Yeah, I powershifted above 6k. I never missed a shift at the track though.

An aftermarket shifter should help - the better ones have springs to help it "find" the middle section. A good missed shift can help you find the rev limiter. I found mine the other night....a shifter is definitely on the list.
