Default No Power Steering this Morning

I searched but couldn't find anyone else with this issue. This morning woke up started the car, pulled out of my parking spot and let the wheel return to the straight, only this morning it didn't, it continued to want to go in a circle.

Turning the wheel I realized I have none or very very little power steering. When you turn the wheel it wants to continue you going in the direction you turned it, not returning to center. The wheel is also much stiffer to turn, even in "comfort" mode.

Has anyone had this happen? It was perfectly fine last night. I even restarted my car many times thinking that maybe a system just didn't initialize.

Ah, the greatness of electric power steering and all the
electronics thats needed to make it work correctly.

And I thought drive by wire would be the death of us.
The PCMs of the world could unite thru SYNC and kill all
that are driving Fords at the same time...

One day we will just electronically put ourselves out of existance...
What was so bad with the S197 power steering that it needed to be 'upgraded'?

I it was partially to get more hp to the wheels... no power steering fluid pump to suck up a little hp while pumping.

Elecric power steering has been out for many years in other high performance or fuel effecient cars. As with anything else made by man, it can and will fail. Just think, 20 years ago most cars had a belt driven fan.... progress

Yes, that could be fixed with pantyhose if it should break.
Progress?? Or unneeded complication to such a simple thing...

Hi bldude,

I want to get your regional customer service manager involved so we can get your concerns addressed. Please send me a PM with your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name; I'll get your case escalated so your CSM can reach out to your dealer and get to work.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns; I'm happy to help.

Thanks,
Crystal
