Default 2006 GT worth?

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and the Mustang world for that matter. I am looking at a 06 GT for my wife to have as a daily driver, she currently has a supercharged Grand Prix. Anyways the GT has low miles (32k) clean car fax, flow masters, cold air and leather interior. Not sure however if it is a deluxe or premium. I know the gentleman that owns it and he has taken excellent care of it and babied it the whole time (he is 2nd owner and bought it when it was 4 years old, it had 11k on it then). He is moving back to Ireland and therefore will need to sell it around the June time frame. If he sells it to me he said he would take 14,500 for it, no less. I have read posts written that 06 and 07's should be 10-13k but I haven't seen any even close to that price range. what is everyone's thoughts on this? Btw, I drive a Challenger RT so hopefully I don't get too beat up over that, lol.

If it has leather interior, then its a "premium" model.

KBB for an 06GT with 32k in excellent condition is $18,800. No way in hell does that take into effect the massive shot in retail the 3v took when the 5.0 came out.

I would check over the car and look for common issues with the 05/06's. Seeing that you're in mass, what part are you from? I'd be more than happy to meetup and checkout the car with you, assuming you're close-ish by.

I'm from Franklin Ma, where are you located s197gt07? The car is located in Framingham.

I also checked the pass side floor for dampness and it is completely dry. The only thing he has had to do to the car is a battery so far. He also said that the column is making a weird sound so he had it checked at the dealer and they want to replace the column bushing. Anyone had to do this?

Jim,

I'm in Peabody, so the car is only 45 min away!

The steering thing sounds weird, specially if it has only 32k on the clock. The passenger floor is a good spot to look. I'd also take a peek at the cabin air filter and the drains on the firewall. If it has a cold air that requires a tune, it should also come with the X3 device so you can re-tune it at your will.

Let me know if you'd like to take me up on the offer.

You will not see one listed for $10K - $13K, but you may be able to get one in that range if you're a good negotiator.
For your area, Edmunds shows a private party price of approx. $12K for a premium 06 GT/32K mi./manual/excell. cond., and $12.4K for an auto. Suggest taking an Edmunds print out when you go to talk to the owner.

Be sure to check all the plugs and bushings the 2005 till about 2008 had common leaking problems. With water coming in and shorting stuff out. There was some talk on that yesterday over in the 4.6L section I believe it was. Which if the cars out of warranty would not be covered by Ford, so if it had any of those problems you may want to ask. Which if it did and he took care of it then it should be fine but if he never knew about it and your driving it daily those issue may pop up. Also the front windshields sometimes leaked along the top seal. Fords fix was to silicone it.

Also, check to make sure all of the gauges are working properly in the cluster. I know this is a common issue with the 05, however, if I recall correctly, some of the 2006 owners have experienced the stepper motors going out on their clusters as well. I have an 05 model and the following stepper motors are going out:
RPM gauge, temperature gauge, gas gauge

Around here the average mileage for an 05-07 is 75-90K miles. Highest private party is $15,800 with 85K miles, the lowest is $12,000 with 98K miles on it.

At 32K miles $14.5K is in the ball park.

Most of the water leaks were from the wiper cowl clips, imo. If you have an 05-06-07 gt that did not leak water past the wiper cowl clips, then you are one luck SOB.

Well it looks like if I get it I will reseal the wiper cowl clips regardless of whether or not it is leaking. Also looks like he is in the ballpark at 14,500. To my knowledge the gauges all work and everything is 100% functional.

S197gt07, I would like to take you up on your offer to take a look at it someday, we have plenty of time as I will not be able to purchase it until June.
