How are the 2011 MT GT's holding up?
Hi all. Thinking about trading my 2010 MT GT coupe for a 2011 MT GT vert...
I've read that the first year 5.0s had some manual transmission issues among other first year engine issues. Now that its been a few years, were these concerns overblown? Would you recommend getting the 2011 or shopping for a 2010 vert (I do like the long term history and reliability of this engine, but the 5.0 is tempting) or maybe a 2012 (likely more expensive than the 2011 but perhaps first year bugs ironed out)?
Any insight would be appreciated.

I would shoot more for the 2012 myself if I was going used. I am loving my 2013 have not had any issues with it yet. It's going to hit it 1 year old mark here next month. My only complaint is the stock shifter is not that great.

Had bad problem with grinding noise on cold mornings, Ford did the TSB tranny fluid change and mostly smooth now with the exception of a slight grind from 4th to 5th when vehicle is cold in cold temps but it goes away once vehicle is warmed up and am approaching 26000 miles.

It should be under warranty if there is a problem. If there is a grinding as mph07alloy mentioned, and it is not a result of missing a gear, then the dealer needs to fix that. If the dealer tries to deny you a fix, make sure that you make a stink and ensure that other customers can overhear the denial of a warranty issue, because they will be more inclined to avoid the bad PR, and should be more inclined to honor the warranty. If that does not help, call Ford corporate. Now besides that, I have 12,500 on my 2011 GT 5.0 and it has a nice quick shift.

45,000 miles with a lot of powershifting (quick shifting without letting up on the gas) and it still feels like it did the day I bought the car new. I have daily driven the car year round in Buffalo, NY, rain, snow, or shine, since I got it in late 2010.
Not a single issue so far with the MT or rear dif or engine. No issues at all mechanically, actually. Then again I am a freak with maintenance.
