Default Advice

Hey Guys
I just got a 08 GT Conv 5 spd, My 1st car in 30 years .( I had trucks). Need a few recommendations for upgrades .
1.Brakes rotors and pads using factory calipers.
2.CAI?
Also my mileage sucks , This normal? I got it used from a dealer so I dont know if the previous owner did anything. He did install a Hurst sifter and roll bar.
Thanks for any advice

typically I use places like http://www.americanmuscle.com for upgrade parts. I plan on getting a set of the JBA powerslot rotors soon.
2) CAI is really whatever you like the look of best; but get one that comes with a tuner - that's the biggest gains (both an increase of HP and gas mileage). Personally I use Steeda because I like the customer service of the company and I'm a long time customer - plus it looks good - and again it came with a SCTx3 with BAMA tunes for life from AM.

Sucks is a relative word, whats the estimated MPG? How are you driving? is it city or highway or mixed? I have prolly 60% Highway 40% street and I average 22-23 mpg with some spirited driving off lights, avg hwy cruise speed of 75-80 (It is the capitol beltway ) I run a BAMA 91octane street tune.

and welcome to the club the mod bug will hit you soon

Read thru the forum for tons of info on known chronic issues (search the TSB's) and on which performance mods are worthwhile, which to buy and which to run from.

As far as the CAI, a stand alone CAI on these engines gain nearly nothing but paired with a custom tune they rock to the tune (no pun intended) of about 20-25 RWHP, real life, not advertised. And welcome to where we'll share your new found wallet emptier.

As far as mileage, that's so dependent on about 1000 different things. But you should be able to squeeze about 26 MPG doing all highway at the speed limit, hand calculated and pump-to-pump. In town, stop lights, a bit of aggressive driving and you're typically talking low teens.

What kind of milage are you getting? Im squeezing out 26 - 27 highway. Just remember a lot of these Cai's require a tune.

absolutely no point of a cai without a tune, will have no power gains and not run fully properly. check out brenspeed.com or american muscle for tons of performance and appearance mods, the list goes on and on for these cars!

I'm running this setup on my 3V GT with a manual trans:

http://www.uprproducts.com/mustang-b...sct-tuner.html

It added quite a bit of power AND improved my MPG. (I average 23MPG)
