Default Good deals on 2012s to be had?

With the 2014s hitting the lots, I'm wondering if it's possible to get a really good deal on a leftover 2012 model. I've seen some dealers still asking full MSRP, while I've seen others discounting them up to 10% off MSRP.

What would YOU consider a good deal on a new 2012 model?

There are still new 2012's available? You should be able to get at least $2500 off just from current incentives.

I'd suspect good deals on leftover 2013's. The 2014's have been on the lots for awhile. I don't understand why Ford does that. I'm hoping the 2018's come out in 2015.

If you find a 2012 leftover, I'd start negotiations under the "I'll take that off your hands for (insert lowball $$ here)" and then see who can be the bigger azhole.

From what I've seen, yes. Not many, but they are out there.

I'm surprised there are incentives for the 2013 & 2014 models, but none for the 2012s.

We almost bought a 2012 GT new here in Denver. Sticker in the window was 39800. Internet price was 31999. I talked them down to 30999 and then told them I wasnt going to pay the dealer handling fee and they'd have to eat that on the cost of the car. They agreed to eat the 600 handling fee but only if I bought the car right then. To be honest, I didnt want the car so I walked. I just wanted to see how low I could get them.

wcgman, that was a heck of a deal, never seen a dealer negotiate their fees so heavily.

Thundersteel, I'd use a car buying service - like USAA or Costco. I've used both and they usually start the price well below MSRP, you should be able to get a 2014 thru them with about 10% off considering incentives and that's if you do no negotiating at all. If you need a deal more then you need the car I'd wait. The best time to buy is black friday or new years eve. You can expect 10% off MSRP with out any assistance from a car buying service or any haggling.

I had thought about getting a 2014, but the 2012 I saw is built the way I'd order one--exact color and options. If they aren't willing to deal, then perhaps I'll think about getting a 2014.

Perhaps a good litmus test would be to look up the cars value thru KBB. My guess for a trade it's probably 30% below the original MSRP.
